Museums
Explore East Aurora’s rich history with a visit to one of our area’s museum. Just a short walk for The Inn is the Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum . Located in The Scheidemantel House which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum devoted to artifacts relating to Elbert Hubbard and the Roycroft Movement (1895-1938). Not too far away is the early home of the 13th President of the United States. The Millard Fillmore Presidential Site has been designated a National Historic Landmark and is open for tours. For visiting families, Explore and More … a childrens’ museum is a fun play for families to enjoy interactive activities and learning.
Shopping
The Roycroft tradition of fine craftsmanship continues today and you will find numerous artisans making and selling their furniture, jewelry, and other artwork throughout the village. Stroll down Main St and enjoy many eclectic shops, galleries and restaurants. Visit Vidler’s an old fashioned 5&10. See a movie in a vintage theater. Throughout the village you can take rest and enjoy a variety of outdoor dining options.
And not too far away …
If you are interested getting partaking in some out door activities there are many nearby opportunities. Within a short drive there are two golf courses, Byrncliff Golf Club that offers a challenging 18-hole course, and Bob-O-Links, a par three 18-hole course with a driving range that also has which is lit for evening play. Bob-O-Links also has a driving range available.
For scenic hiking and nature walks there are several beautiful parks including Knox Farm State Park, Beaver Meadow Audubon Center and Sprague Brook Park.
In the winter months, you can enjoy the snow with both cross country and down hill skiing just a snowball throw away. At Kissing Bridge experience 36 snow covered slopes that measure a full 1-1/4 miles wide, encompassing 700 acres of terrain and served by nine lifts. They also are home to The Colden Tubing Company for fun sledding.
